A famous photographer once said, “If you want to take better pictures, stand in front of more interesting stuff”.
Gee, thanks. Great advice coming from a guy who gets paid to travel to exotic places and take pictures. What about those of us who spend a lot of time in our own neighborhoods? Well, the truth is that there’s lots of “interesting stuff” lying around everywhere and waiting for someone to stand in front of it. This program is about how to see that stuff and make great pictures out of it. Illustrated with examples from John’s portfolio and with pictures from photographers throughout the history of photography, the program will cover things like composition, light and in-camera techniques. Mostly, though, it’s about how to develop a your photographer’s eye and find inspiration and “interesting stuff” wherever you look. The emphasis is on outdoor landscapes and scenics, but the concepts and techniques can apply to any type of photography.
