“iPhone Photography: The Next Level”
Instructor: Charles Needle
Day: Thursday, July 2nd
Cost: Members $185 | Non-Members $200
Class Limit | 12
All skill levels welcome (from beginner to advanced).
Learn how to take your iPhone photography to the next level in this fun, hands-on 1-day workshop. Award-winning Colorado-based fine art photographer, Charles Needle, will teach you how to craft creative, expressive images using nothing more than your mobile device.
The workshop will begin with a brief slideshow of images set to music, followed by a brief discussion of how photographing regularly with your iPhone can make you a better photographer and photo editor.
Then, in a slide-illustrated lecture, Charles will cover some of the technical aspects of iPhone photography — including hidden native camera features, key accessories, workflow and printing considerations. Following his lecture, Charles will then project his phone on the screen and demonstrate how to use several key creative shooting and editing apps, including an in-depth demonstration of Snapseed (the “bread & butter” app of post-processing).
After a lunch break, you’ll have the opportunity to apply all this knowledge by photographing on the grounds of the Cape Cod Art Center (or another location TBD) with Charles guiding you in the field. If time permits, we will project and share images as a group at the end of the workshop. You’ll leave feeling inspired with new creative possibilities and a better understanding of how to craft artistic images with your iPhone that go beyond the documentary.
Note: This workshop is primarily geared toward iPhone users; however, you can certainly participate if you own an Android phone. (Just keep in mind, many of the apps Charles will discuss and demonstrate are only available for iOS devices. You can probably find an equivalent in the Google Play Store.)
What to Bring: Please bring a fully-charged iPhone, as well as a cable to charge your phone and portable battery pack (if you have one), with the most up-to-date operating system (iOS) running. If you’re accustomed to editing your images using an iPad, feel free to bring that also. If you would like to download a few apps beforehand so you can follow along, some recommended apps include: Snapseed by Google (free), Camera+ 2 by LateNightSoft S.L., Average Cam Pro by Dominik Seibold, Slow Shutter Cam by Cogitap Software and Artista Impresso by JixiPix, LLC.
