Creating Surrealistic Composites in Digital Art
Date: Saturday, July 27 – Sunday, July 28, 2019
Time: 9:30 am – 12:30 pm (Saturday and Sunday)
Cost: Members: $110 | Non-Members $125
What is surrealism? Have you ever wondered how surrealistic artists come up with their ideas and techniques for creating those unreal, imaginative images that seem to bring you into their dreamlike worlds? This is a two part workshop where we will discuss, observe and finally create our own surrealistic images. In Part 1 (Saturday) we’ll take a look at both classical (Dali) and contemporary surrealism and discuss the thought process going on in the artist’s mind. Where do they find their inspiration? We’ll set up a folder with elements we could use in our composites. In Part 2 (Sunday) we will focus on the nuts and bolts of developing our composites, with emphasis on blending images, light, scale, texture and story.
This workshop promises to be tons of fun and may lead to developing your own collections or books! We will use Superimpose X and iColorama apps on the iPad. Please have both downloaded to your iPad prior to starting the workshop. They can be purchased at the App Store. It would also be advisable to have a collection of objects, animals, or people in folders for use in the workshop. I will also have images for you.
This is an advanced course for those primarily interested in Digital Art with some experience in iColorama app. There will be notes available for resource information.
