Students will increase their knowledge of oil painting from direct or alla prima painting to traditional underpainting and glazing techniques. Students will learn how to develop good composition and design from thumbnail sketches to final design on canvas. Using a layering approach, most paintings will be completed in three painting sessions. Use of color harmonies, value and light and shade will be covered.
