Join botanical artist Ellen Duarte in a series of workshops focused on nature journaling. Each workshop will highlight a different aspect of nature, emphasize various art elements and techniques and experiment with a variety of art materials.
Workshops are on Mondays as follows:
Nov 2- Discover Nature Through Drawing – An introduction to different approaches for nature journaling with a focus on drawing in graphite and ink.
Nov 9- Local Flora – Focus on plants and their habitats. Learn techniques for drawing plants in the field and studio. Discuss how to locate, identify, and collect plant specimen for you journal. Practice watercolor techniques for plant painting.
Nov 16- Trees and Leaves – Learn to draw trees to scale ways of recording their characteristics. Use graphite, pen, and watercolor to sketch and portray beautiful autumn trees and leaves.
Nov 30- Bugs, Butterflies, and Some of Their Friends– Colored pencil and watercolor pencil will be used to portray various bugs, butterflies and small creatures from both photos and real life specimen.
Dec 7- Birds in Action – Focus on capturing the beauty of birds and their movements using a variety of materials and approaches.
Dec 14- Open Forum Finishing Studio – Bring any of the work you have done from any workshop or class I thought this year for sharing and instruction. We will have an open question and answer session where I will give personal instruction and demonstrations where possible.
