Artist Statement: Jen Turner
My love for painting was rekindled on a family vacation to Prince Edward Island a few years ago. The scenery, specifically the lupins, and a lesson with a local artist sparked a hobby that I had previously set aside. In today’s world, we are surrounded by too much busy, and painting is my own personal time out. It allows me to slow down and a take a break from my duties as wife, mother, and research consultant. While the art of painting takes me away, I hope that viewers looking at my art can also find it as an escape from the stress of the everyday world.
I enjoy painting landscapes, which are most commonly inspired by the photographs of members of my family. I also enjoy painting houses and buildings that hold special meaning to their recipients. Although acrylics are my current preferred medium, I enjoy experimenting with watercolors.
I am a life-long resident of Attleboro, MA and a member of the Attleboro Arts Museum, Pawtucket Arts Collaborative, and Foxboro Art Association. When I am not painting, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons.
