Instructions for entering the Cape Cod Art Center Anti-Litter Poster Contest

Anti-Litter Poster Contest Entry Form

You are invited to join other K-12 teachers across Cape Cod in the 2019 Anti-Litter Poster Contest sponsored by Cape Cod Art Center. This year’s theme, “Litter-free begins with me!” is designed to increase students’ awareness of how the unique beauty of our scenic peninsula is threatened by litter.

  1. The contest is open to all students who are residents of Cape Cod and enrolled in grades K-12 (home schooled, public or private).
  2. The theme is “Litter-free begins with me!” The theme must be on the front of the poster.
  3. Any type of paper or poster board can be used, but do not roll the posters. Posters should not be larger than 12” x 18”.
  4. Students may use any medium (i.e., crayons, watercolors, oil, etc.). Three-D posters are disqualified.
  5. It is very important that the following information appear on the back of each poster. You may download and copy the entry form HERE. Posters without this information are disqualified:

*Student’s Name, Home Address & Telephone Number

*Student’s or Parent’s E-mail Address

*Teacher’s Name & E-mail Address

*School Name & Grade Level

*Signed Student Anti-Litter Pledge

  1. Entries must be done in marker, crayon, paint, ink, or colored pencil. No glue; no glitter; no attachments; no signatures on front of posters. No syndicated, copyrighted, or clipart images!. No copy-machine or 3-D poster entries.
  2. Each poster submitted must be the student’s original art work. Younger students can get help from an adult with any lettering.
  3. Only one entry per student is eligible per calendar year.
  4. Posters will be judged based on originality, message impact, and artistic appeal.
  5. Posters must be delivered to the Cape Cod Art Center, 3480 Route 6A, Barnstable, MA, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. during the three-day period April 8-10, 2019.
  6.  All posters become the property of Cape Cod Art Center. Winning posters will be used to promote anti-littering on Cape Cod. Entry into the contest confirms the entrant’s understanding and agreement that the winning entries may be duplicated and used for anti-litter campaign promotion.

Prizes

1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners are selected in categories K-1, 2-3, 4-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

1st place winners will receive $100, 2nd place $50 and 3rd place $25.

Each winner will receive a certificate of recognition. Additionally, grade 9-12 winners will receive free tuition to a Cape Cod Art Center instructional art or photography class.

Both winning and non-winning entries will be displayed at Cape Cod Art Center.

Schools will receive a $50 check for the art teacher of each first place winner to use for a celebration party or any classroom needs at his/her discretion.

How to Enter

Complete an entry form for each poster. Entry forms can be downloaded HERE. Photocopies of the entry form are acceptable.

Deliver your school’s entries in person to Cape Cod Art Center, 3480 Route 6A, Barnstable, MA. Entries are accepted April 8th – 10th, 2019, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Winners will be notified by April 12, 2019. Prizes are awarded at a recognition ceremony on April 14, 2019 at Cape Cod Art Center, when all the posters will on display.
