Painting with Alcohol Inks

Saturday, June 2

$110 Members/$125 Non Members  (cost includes a $15 Material Fee)

Alcohol Ink is a highly pigmented and quick-drying medium applied by pouring, brushing or stamping on a non-porous surface such as Yupo.

The vibrant colors of this ink intermingle creating unique textural effects, often leading to unexpected results.

Working with alcohol inks offers opportunities to approach painting more intuitively and expressively with a sense of creative playfulness.

The six-hour workshop (with a break for lunch) will begin with an introduction to alcohol ink as a painting medium and a demonstration in techniques of pouring, brushing and creating textures with inks.  The remaining time will be used for personal exploration with time to complete many paintings on Yupo.  The workshop will end with a critique allowing participants to share their paintings and to discuss what they have discovered.

All materials will be included.  *It would be advisable to bring a paint shirt or apron to protect clothing.  There will be protective gloves provided.

** Materials needed to participate in this class will be provided**

Mary Wojciechowski, a retired visual arts teacher, received her BFA degree from the University of Connecticut. She is a signature member of the Rhode Island Watercolor Society, a juried artist in the Cape Cod Art Association and is a member of the Attleboro Arts Museum, the Monotype Guild of New England and Collective Marks. Watercolor has been Mary’s principle medium during her painting career with subjects taken most often from the natural surroundings of her New England home. Most recently, Mary’s art has expanded beyond representational toward a more explorative and experimental approach and includes work in monotype printmaking and alcohol ink painting as well.

Mary’s art has been juried into many exhibitions both local and regional, and is currently represented by Gallery 31 in Orleans, MA.
