This workshop requires an iPad, we will be downloading Apps from the App Store. Bring a variety of imagery that you want to work with on your iPad. (You can photograph your material, with your iPad camera or your phone or scan it and transfer it to your iPad in advance of the workshop)  Imagery of any kind should work, but background material and textures are helpful.
Procreate is a very powerful standalone drawing App with over 200 brushes, but for our purposes, one can create a work of art in just a few hours. We will start in a tutorial format, with live demonstration of some of the features of Procreate. There will be a slide presentation as well, and time for questions. Some of the techniques we will cover are layering, masking, color adjustment, importing imagery, painting, erasing and blending.
There will be a break for lunch.
From there we will move into our own projects, and experiment with Procreate and some of the ways it can interact with other apps. I hope to be able to give you pointers and share some techniques that I use. We will finish by sharing and talking about the work from the day.
Bio: Catherine Caddigan is an artist who has practiced many forms of photography. She received her MFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a concentration in photography and printmaking. Currently she is concentrating on Mobile Art. For the past few years she exhibits works created with mobile devices. She is inspired by collage artists of the 20th century, and strives to express more than a simple capture. Her layering and collage technique is meant to observe culture today, in all its complexity. She feels that the mobile devices of today are a reflection of the information driven culture.
