A rare opportunity to shoot the annual Hyannis to Nantucket Figawi Race from the best vantage point – on the water! View the parade of sails and capture that ultimate action shot from aboard a catamaran.
 
Tour lasts 2-4 hours depending on shooting & sailing conditions.

Parking:

  • There is a municipal parking lot on South Street with free parking. It is about a two block walk from the harbor.
  • There is limited parking at the harbor by meter.
  • You may park in the ferry boat parking lot and pay a parking fee for the day.

FIGAWI RACE: SHIPBOARD & SAIL PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP

Time: 6:00pm

Price: Free and open to race photography participants with advance sign-up to shoot the Figawi Race Event

Thursday May 24th evening pre-race seminar introducing photographic techniques and tips for successful shipboard photography in diverse maritime conditions such as shooting while in motion, low and bright light, back-lighting, understanding how to overcome diverse weather conditions and turn it into an advantage. Tom will also take the time to help make sure all your settings are adjusted correctly for the Figawi shoot.

Race Day Equipment and supplies:

  • -A 35mm camera or a compact  digital camera with a range of focal lengths ranging from medium wide to telephoto are recommended
  • -Optional accessories and info dependent upon weather will be provided upon reserving space
  • -A  hat, sunscreen and a favorite beverage and snack recommended
  • -Please bring along your camera manual to help facilitate questions that may arise.

Thomas Bollinger has spent most of his adult life documenting the sea in one form or another om has spent well over a thousand days at sea as a professional photographer on projects ranging from wildlife documentaries to scientific research platforms, advertising assignments, environmental projects, privately funded adventures, travel & tourism, and wildlife outreach & encounters. Tom spent many seasons as a professional & official race photographer for some of Florida’s oldest and most prestigious sail regattas.
