Meet CCAC artist member Paula Piraino Grimes
During the years at Massachusetts College of Art, Paula spent three summers sketching portraits on Main Street, Hyannis at a craft store. She later spent a year of study in Florence, Italy at the Academia Di Belle Arti studying the work of the Masters.
Paula enjoys painting the scenes where she is living. While teaching in Cambridge, she painted the old architecture and street scenes of Boston. She also grew interested in the architecture of the Old Mill towns west of Boston. The Cape has a deep meaning for Paula and her family, Paula’s grandfather was a fisherman, and his boat went down off of Race Point.
Paula Grimes won several grants from the Mass. Cultural Council to give exhibits in the Metro West area. She also exhibited portraits of members of he community in Natick. Paula and her husband, Justin now live on the Cape where they both enjoy the beauty of the coastline. Paula is a Signature member of the New England Watercolor Society. She has won many awards including First prize, Braintree Art Association, First prize, Natick Arts Center, First prize, Wellesley Arts and Crafts Society. Her work has been shown at Amherst College, Boston City Hall, Harvard Faculty Building, Brockton Craft Museum.
