Creative Smartphone Imagery ~ From image capture to creative edits

Five sessions held via Zoom. Zoom links will be emailed prior to each class.
Recordings will be made available for 90 days after the workshop ends, available within
three days after each class.
This class is for anyone who has a smartphone in their pocket and wants to improve
their smartphone photography. We will cover basic to more advanced image capture,
editing and creative editing. It’s time to have fun with your Smartphone and your
Smartphone images!
The following apps will be demonstrated in class as ways to capture and/or edit
smartphone images, (compatibility noted):
-Native IOS camera and editor ~ Android users would use the native camera/editor in
their device
-Snapseed, compatible with IOS and Android devices
-Lightroom Mobile, compatible with IOS and Android devices
-Circular Tiny Planet, compatible with IOS devices. Not currently available for Android
devices. Similar effects can be achieved on Tiny Planet and Tiny Planet Maker for
Android.
KaleidaCam, compatible with IOS devices. Possible alternates for Android are
KaleidoSnap and Kaleidoscope Cam.
-Slow Shutter Cam, compatible with IOS devices. Not currently available for Android
devices. Similar effects can be achieved with Camera FV-5 .
-Artista Oil and Impresso apps by Jixi Pix compatible with IOS and Android devices.
Destroy Pix, compatible with IOS devices. Possible Android platform app available at
www.updatestar.com.
-Average Camera Pro, compatible with IOS devices. Possible Android platform app
available at www.updatestar.com.
-Distressed FX and Distressed FX+, compatible with IOS devices. No alternate for
Android known currently.
-Tangled FX is compatible with IOS devices. No alternate for Android known currently.
***Note: Applications for use with IOS and Android devices change all the time. Many
factors can affect these changes. The apps listed here are available and functioning at
the time of this posting, however, know that as operating systems change, apps
sometimes change and/or become unavailable. Similar apps will be substituted if
necessary.
It is suggested that you do not purchase apps ahead of time.

***Note: Android device users are welcome but note that demonstrations will be on the
IOS platform (iPhone), only. I will make every effort to research additional comparable
apps that work with Android devices for those that are not available for Android. There
are multiple apps that at the time of this posting are available in both the IOS and
Android platforms.

BIO: Maryellen Stone, Photographer and Digital Artist

Maryellen Stone is an award-winning photographer and digital artist who explores
the natural world, seeking color, light, movement, and all things unique and
wonderful through whatever lens she has in her hand. Maryellen’s work has earned
numerous awards and recognition in local, national, and international exhibitions.
Mostly recently she earned a “Judges Choice” and a “Top 100” award in the
NANPA, (North America Nature Photographers Association), 2026 Showcase
“Altered Reality” category. Maryellen earned “Photographer of the Year”, (Platinum
class), honors in 2024 and 2025 for the Cape Cod Art Center Camera Club and was
named the Cape Cod Art Center’s 2024 “Artist of the Year”. Maryellen enjoys
