When: April 24 8:30am-1pm and April 25, 2026 9am-4pm
Who:  Instructor, Wendi Smith
What: Soft and hard pastel medium, some experience with pastels strongly suggested
Cost: Members $240.  Non Members  $295.
First day will be a wave demo then students will paint along with Wendi on a provided reference photo.
Second day students will finish their previous day’s wave and start and finish a second wave.  Students are welcome to bring in their own reference images for 2nd day of class or use some of Wendi’s  provided images.
Wendi will be working closely with each student individually.  You will learn about composition, how to paint movement in water and capture light and reflections.
Supply List
Sketch pad and pencil or markers for thumbnail or notan
Pastels:   hard and soft pastels    CCAC does have some pastels if needed
Three Paper/surfaces: 9″x12″ UArt 400 natural or beige paper or panels or Pastel Mat or any surface you feel comfortable using.  Wendi will have extra paper for $5.00 ea.
Foamcore or panel  (slightly larger than your 9×12 surface)
Artist Tape: Dick Blick   not from craft store.   Wendi will have some if needed.
18″ ruler
Apron or old clothes  
70 or 91% Isopropyl Alcohol 
½ to 1″ brush     cheap house painting brush works great
Old Light color kitchen towel
Baby wipes
Glycine or clear bags  to protect your painting for travel
Lunch or snack and water  we will have a short snack and stretch break
