Lightroom Basics & Beyond: Make Your Images Look Their Best

Learn the essential tools and techniques to make your photos look their best using Adobe Lightroom Classic. In this hands-on class, you’ll learn a simple workflow that will let you quickly and easily organize, edit and output your images.
First, we’ll cover how to import, rate and sort your pictures into collections. Then, working with sample images and your own pictures, you’ll learn to edit like a pro. We’ll cover:
- Cropping.
- Correct and enhance exposure.
- Bring out and enhance color.
- Masking for local adjustments.
- Dodge & Burn techniques.
- Re-touching techniques to remove dust spots and other distractions.
- Create HDR image blends.
- Stitching panoramas.
- Noise reduction and sharpening.
- Editing tips and tricks to give their pictures extra pop and finish.
You’ll also learn how to export your photos for email, print and the web.
In addition, you will receive printed handouts outlining the techniques covered in class.
Who’s it for?
All levels. Anyone who wants to learn – or learn more about – how to make their photos look their best using the most popular program for editing images.
What you’ll need:
You should install the latest version of Lightroom Classic for the desktop – not tjust “Lightroom” the mobile version. Your version should say “Lightroom Classic” in the upper left corner of the program. This version only works on computers – desktop or laptop – but NOT tablets.
In person and via Zoom
The plan is to have the session in-person at CCAC with a Zoom option for people who prefer to work at home.
Instructor Bio:
John Tunney is a fine-art photographer, photo educator, speaker and author. A CCAC Master Artist, John is a frequent exhibitor in art shows and festivals, His award-winning work has been featured in a solo exhibition at the Griffin Museum of Photography, Winchester, MA, and in many solo and group shows in galleries and other exhibition centers. An instructor for many years, he has taught students of all levels and has led programs here on Cape Cod and in Maine, Iceland and other areas. He is the author of the photo book, The Four Seasons of Cape Cod, and is a contributing writer to Petapixel.com.
