Price: $185 non-members/$155 members
Level: Beginner, dabbler, or a refresher for returning painters
Alla prima (Italian, meaning at first attempt), is a painting technique that means working wet-on-wet, and finishing the painting in one sitting, only adding the finishing touches if needed in a second sitting.
We will explore the basic rules of composition, value, color, perspective, and learn how to use various apps on a tablet or smartphone to find the subject and make edits.
We will work from life, both inside and outside (weather permitting), and we will work from photographs.
We will discuss and try limited palettes and how to mix and apply paint.
The goal is to create a strong foundation in oil painting medium and as well as establishing an insight into the formal concerns of all art media. All this while having fun in a supportive atmosphere.
