LIFE DRAWING MADE EASY 

A drawing class with LEE SURETTE 

Wednesday, January 8 – February 12 (6 weeks) 

$230 Member / $260 Non-member (price includes cost of model) 

In this class you will sketch from the model. And learn how to draw the human body.

Once you’ve got it down…. You can add people to your art.  

This Class is open to all drawing mediums. 

First Class we will have no model.  You will learn a simple formula that breaks the body into

blocks and circles that you can bend and reshape into any position. Like in my watercolor class, we’ll take the last few minutes to talk about all the art.

Let’s get together on each Wednesday and build a group of people that helps you have a great time learning that drawing people ISN’T REALLY ALL THAT HARD.   

CLASS 1. Getting started   

Materials, setting up, learning the simple body formular and bending it into different positions

Basic supplies & expanded supply list [HANDOUT]

Setting up your space and your supplies – pencils, paper

PRACTICE 

CLASS 2. Planning your painting

   The next five classes:

   You will sketch from the model posing in different positions.

    Starting with 2-minute poses, learning the gesture of the pose then 5-minute, 10-minute and ending 

with a 20-minute pose.

  I will go over each different part of the body and give out handouts for reference.

Instructor

Lee Surette is from a family of artists and spent many years as a commercial artist, illustrator and advertising Creative Director. Since his 20’s he has been devoted to exploring the light and form of the New England landscape through the mediums of watercolor and oils. Lee graduated from Vesper George School of Art and was an instructor there in commercial art and illustration. He studied oil painting at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown under Henry Hensche, the renowned genius of the Cape Cod Style of American Impressionism. His continued study at the Cape School under watercolorist Lee Boynton further developed his watercolor style.
