Painting Outside in the Light:
There is nothing like the color you’ll see painting out in the REAL light. I started painting outside at the Cape School of Art in Provincetown. It felt wrong to paint inside. We are lucky to live here on the cape. The cape sticks out into the ocean and the light bounces in from all sides (Cape Light)
The light reflects into the shadows and opens up the dark to show more color. When you paint outside, you are in the image you are painting, not just looking at a picture of an image. You feel the sun and the air and you’ll remember it even if you finish it later at home. It’s a bit more difficult painting out in the wind and the bugs, but it’s totally with it.
Things you’ll need for Plein Air painting:

Trash Bag (bring back more than you bring)

Bug Spray / Sun Screen
All in a backpack or a carrying bag
