Catching a Wave with Pastel: Wave Demo and Workshop with Wendi Smith
Some pastel experience suggested. If you have taken Wendi’s workshops for beginners, you can do this!
Date: Friday, September 5, 2025
Time: 9:30 – 3:30
Cost: Member $125/Non-Member $150
The class will begin with Wendi doing a wave demonstration as she explains what, why and how she does it. There will be a 20 minute break for snack or lunch. After the break class will experience the step by step process to create their own wave. She suggests getting yourselves out to the beach for some inspiration. Observation is the best teacher.
Supply List:
-Soft and hard pastels
Note: CCAC has soft and hard pastels available to use if you don’t have your own. If you have your own, please bring some.
-Backing board to mount painting surface, Foamcore or drawing board to hold 9×12 paper. Wendi will have extra if needed.
-Two 9×12 Uart 400 sand or natural or 9×12 Pastelmat paper
-Sketch book and pencil for thumbnails
-Ruler
-Old light color dish or hand towel
-Wet naps
-Papertowels
-Masking or Artist tape (don’t get artist tape at Michaels or Hobby Lobby)
-Oil or acrylic brush for alcohol was underpainting.
