Lance will demonstrate how he can create a beautiful oil seascape with only three colors.
Lance Walker is primarily a self taught artist who resides on Cape Cod. He focuses mainly on landscape and maritime subjects.
He completes most of his studio work from plein air studies, his imagination and his experience. Understanding the necessity of painting from life, he paints outdoors to gain what he calls “visual understanding” and “color notes”. He says “early in my plein air experience, I was overly concerned with completing a painting. Now, I simply gather information.”
Lance’s inspiration comes from the Hudson River School artists. He travels throughout New England and America to paint the places they painted, like the Oxbow, the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone, to better understand the landscape painting experience.
Lance gives demonstrations to various art associations, teaches the plein air experience to artist and contributes to various charities. He has participated in exhibitions at the Copley in Boston, The Cahoon Museum and a solo show at the Cape Cod Museum of Art.
His work can be seen at “Art of the Sea Galleries” in South Thomaston, Maine and “Lance Walker Fine Art” in Dennis, Massachusetts.
Lance Walker is a member of the team at Cape Cod Picture Framing & Restoration in Dennis, MA, working as a design specialist. Inside this unique frame shop, Lance and his artwork can be found.
