Description: This course is for the beginner or the advanced beginner. Students will be asked to work from still life and from photographic reference of their choice. The goal is to understand how “to see” the world in a new way and learn to express that through the medium of oil/acrylic painting. Sean will give individual instruction to you as he walks around to critique your work and give individual attention.
Materials: The class will start with a basic palette to help you understand color mixing. As we progress you may add to your palette. Note: It is important to have your photographic reference for the first class, so we can talk about how you will use that reference and/or if you may need additional photo reference to help your work.
Acrylic Paints: Go with a starter set if you are building your paint set from scratch like Golden brand and M.Graham. Golden Open Acrylics have a slower drying time than heavy body and may be better for a beginner.

Mediums: Odorless paint thinner, Optional – Liquin medium. Bring a can/jar to transport used mediums.
Canvas: One small (8×10 or 9 x12) canvas for the first still life exercise. One medium size painting surfaces of your choice (16″x 20″ or any other medium size canvas).
