Explore iPhone Photography Apps with Lisa Jo Rudy
Instructor: Lisa Jo Rudy
Description: If you’re already using your iPhone to take photos and are familiar with your iPhone’s built-in editing tools, you’re ready to take your iPhone photography a step farther with powerful, low-cost iPhone photography apps. Learn to remove unwanted objects, add filters, improve selfies, and much more! This is a hands-on workshop, and we will be sharing our work with one another.
IMPORTANT: this workshop will focus only on the iPhone, and not on other smartphone cameras like Android. You can bring any version of the iPhone, but you should know that every version is slightly different!
We will be exploring these apps, which you should download and open once ahead of time:
- Touch/Retouch (free with in-app purchases available)
- Facetune (you can get a one-week free trial, or sign up for a month at $9)
- Distressed FX (the basic version is fine; price is 99 cents)
- iColorama (free with in-app purchases available)
Here’s what you’ll learn: How to use the Touch-Retouch app to remove unwanted objects and wires from your photos.
How to use the popular Facetune app to improve portraits, enhance nature photography, and create unique, artistic images.
How to use the filtering app DistressedFX or DistressedFX Plus to change the mood and meaning of your photographs.
You’ll need a few of your own photos on your camera already so you can follow along. Try to find a photo or two that has potential but isn’t quite perfect. For example, it may be a beautiful sunset with a fire hydrant in the photo, or a great portrait that doesn’t quite flatter the subject.
