Demo 2 10:45-11:45AM
Pastels: Textures, Layers and Exploration
This demonstration will highlight how pastels can be combined with other mediums to create a textural painting. Preparing a board with gesso, mixed media, pumice ground and/or gel mediums renders a surface suitable for accepting layers of soft pastel. One can control the amount of texture and the playful part is in what materials you use for a fine texture to a course raised surface. Follow this up with a notan underpainting, blocking in main shapes with acrylic inks, watercolor, gouache, acrylic and/or pastel washes and you are ready to paint!
